Infected 101: Getting started as a zombie

Congratulations! Welcome to the dark side ;-)

Here are some tips to get you started:

1) Spend your coins on things that count
Opening your second evolving machine should be your first priority. Even before getting more slots! Once you've gotten your second machine, get slots up to 100, then save for your third machine. Don't be tempted to buy packs, or use them to recharge your team or speed up evolving units - it's not worth it at this stage. Focus on getting all three machines going as soon as possible  This will help you with tip number two....

2) Have more than one team
While it is everyone's dream to have a team of level 50 mythics, you actually don't need them to do well in World Zombination. What you do need is more than one team. This will allow you to score more points on raids and play as much as you want. Start with two teams and then add a third and fourth as you can. If you get to eight you never have to stop playing! You don't even need epics - you can make decent teams out of rare and uncommon units such as Colossus, Biohazard, Titan, Mortician, Reanimator, Harbinger, Defiler and Puddler.

3) Learn to love explosives
I love you, Doomsday!
Explosives are your friend: your friend that goes BOOM! Some people don't like them at first, as you can explode your whole horde with them.

Some quick tips for using explosives:
  • Send them out first, before putting any other units on the field.
  • Use them from entry points away from your main horde.
  • Combine them with drone geysers to take out hard to reach enemies or buildings (see if you can take out two buildings at once!)
  • Use them with flare (try with one of the heavy explosives (Killaton or Doomsday) for extra fun.

4) Reanimator and Mortician are great additions to all of your teams
Reanimator (or infector) and Mortician (or undertaker) may not be the most exciting units, but they are are very handy part of your team for keeping a steady stream of drones and resurrecting/healing units. For their level 10 perks, choose Living Flesh for Mortician (Small heal) and NOT parasitic invasion (which distracts him from resurrecting - healing is MUCH better). I'd also recommend Viral latency for Reanimator (adds more zombie drones to your reserves).

5) Aim for level 30 units
Level 30 is the sweet spot for most units - with a balanced team, you'll be able to take on all the cities on Expert level without really breaking a sweat. After level 30, it gets VERY expensive DNA-wise to level units, so get them to 30, and start raising something else. (Reanimator works very well at 20 and you can get away with mortician at 20 happily too, although if you use jumping units (like daredevil or assassin perked with jumping, his level 30 range perk comes in handy for reviving dead units from behind walls)

6) Ask questions!
If you are in The Order of Chaos, ask away. I (Octavia) have*nearly* infinite patience and in my view there is no such thing as a dumb question. (There is such a thing as annoying question, like "can I have a pack?", but that's another story ;-) !)

7) Do anything for packs, except beg
'Cause that just makes you look sad :-( ! Some easy ways to get packs are to play at least once in all faction wars, play as MUCH as you can in all guild raids, and do the daily guild hunt as well as your other dailies. (In The Order of Chaos guild, we will give you a pack for completing your guild hunt. In other guilds, they might do things differently, but doing the daily guild hunt will still count on your dailies total for a pack.)

And most importantly,
8) HAVE FUN!
This is a game, not a job or homework. Try new stuff. Explode stuff. Raid hard and open lots of packs. Chat to people in the guild. Fight in faction wars. Try out new unit combinations and perks.
